The flat-pack house is due in Townsville on 4 November, but after repeated delays we're not counting on it. The build event won't happen before 14 November, and it may only be a single event.
A word-for-word look at where the flat-pack house is up to, recorded 17 October 2026.
Quick update on the arrival time for the cyclone-rated flat-pack house from China. They now say it’s going to arrive in Townsville on 4 November. Do I believe that? Not a word of it. I don’t believe it.
When might we have an event? What’s the earliest date we could hold one to showcase the erection of this amazing flat-pack house? Doug Rolfe, my wonderful builder, isn’t available until 14 November. So the earliest we could hold an event is 14 November.
But we don’t believe it’s going to arrive on 4 November. They’ve put it off so many times, I’m not going to believe anything. It could also take up to two weeks to get through customs. And if they say two weeks, maybe it’ll be a month, depending on whether there’s dirt in the container, a rat comes scuttling out, or whatever might happen.
So we can’t promise anything yet. But we can promise that we won’t start the building process, the erection process, before 14 November, because that’s the earliest we can.
We’re probably only going to hold one event because of my health. I probably won’t make it to the event. We thought we might do a series of events, but I don’t think I’m healthy enough or have enough energy to help make that happen.
Thanks very much for listening. We hope to see you sometime in November, but who knows when it will be.
