There is lively interest in all forms of alternative, more affordable housing.  The first attractive-looking flat-pack house of this kind  that is cyclone rated has been erected in Babinda. The first to be certified for the Atherton Tablelands is in its container and ready to ship.  But it is still a long way away!

So the Atherton combined team of On Nature’s Edge and People Purpose Place along with Startup Tablelands is holding their first open house without the house!

Christine Doan, lead on the project, exclaims, “This is affordable, architecty-looking, and quick to build.  But Trump has screwed up shipping world wide and not just for petrol!  We have to satisfy the curiosity of the Tablelanders keen for cheaper, quick housing solutions that won’t make our exquisite environment look like a mining camp!  We are going ahead with an info session for anyone curious about this option!”

With their first  successful project, a new build, already in full function near Malanda, Christine’s team has turned their view to new projects:  a renovation and this flat-pack house at #8 Rifle Range Road, Atherton.

Jana Mueller, whose expertise ranges from the technical to the highly personal, has this to say, “The success of the Ginn Rd new build is tangible.  But our building techniques from the old days are too expensive.  This open house, even without the house, opens up information on solutions that are affordable, beautiful and quick to erect.  Unfortunately, we don’t have much sway in shipping timetables!”

New to the team, Janie Rourke, says, “Christine is a true innovator who genuinely cares about creating better outcomes for our community. She isn't making a cent from these community information sessions. I've organised for the sales team from Caravonica to come along on Sunday so people can ask questions, see what's possible and get all the information they need about these affordable housing options. If you're curious, come along. We'd love to see you there.”
