A good build starts well before anything arrives on site!
At our Open House Without the House, Nigel from Every Day Tiny Homes caught up with local builder Doug Rolfe from Dozoco Building Services, who has been involved in the preliminary planning and will be undertaking the build once The Lodge arrives.
For Doug, one of the biggest factors is knowing the product and components meet Australian standards, giving him confidence in what he’ll be responsible for assembling and guaranteeing.

So most of the components that go to make up the kit that is the Lodge are sourced from China.
As I said earlier, the product is designed, architecturally designed in Australia, but the components are sourced in China.
We were very careful with the unit to ensure that there were no Chinese specials in the kit, so we made sure that every single thing from tiling to floor paneling to wall paneling was cross-matched to product that can be sourced here in Australia with Mitre 10 or Bunnings.
Because ultimately, where do we think that Bunnings and Mitre 10 get all their products? So we hold and maintain very tight control over the procurement of all of the components that go into the kit.
That way we can be assured that we maintain appropriate quality controls, and really what the Chinese element does is the packing and assembly of those kits. It's super important that those components are of the highest quality because another key element to the overall project obviously is your builder.
So local builders need to have confidence in the product, in the components, in its integrity, because ultimately they're going to be responsible for assembling it and for the statutory building guarantees that apply to all new buildings.
